Board Members
Leads and coordinates all PTA board and general membership meetings during the school year.
Acts as Cottage Lake’s representative at both district and council-level PTA gatherings.
Serves as the main liaison between the PTA and the school administration, including the principal and office staff, and stays informed about school-related updates or concerns.
Is knowledgeable about the WSPTA and National PTA’s compliance requirements, including policies, bylaws, mission, and values.
Responds to inquiries from Cottage Lake families, referring them to the appropriate board member when needed.
Prepares to step into the President role, if needed.
Helps coordinate the work of PTA committees to ensure alignment with PTA goals and priorities.
Assists in documenting procedures and best practices to help future volunteers succeed.
Provide committees with training and resources to ensure compliance with WSPTA policies and procedures.
Secretary

Attends all executive committee, board of directors, and membership meetings.
Takes minutes and records all business transacted at each executive committee, board, and membership meeting. Prepares minutes for approval at the next meeting.
Plans the meeting agenda with the president and informs the president of any action items or unfinished business at the meetings.
Keeps the legal documents notebook(s) up to date.
Treasurer
Kristen Fisher
Manages all financial records for the PTA, including tracking membership dues and income from events or fundraisers.
Handles receiving, depositing, and distributing funds in alignment with the approved annual budget.
Prepares and presents the proposed budget for approval at a General Membership Meeting, and finalizes the financial records at the close of the fiscal year.
Submits tax documents and any required filings to government agencies.
VP Communications

Works to enhance communication between the PTA, school, and families.
Maintains the Cottage Lake Elementary PTA website .
Ensures that the online calendar content is up to date.
Creates content for flyers, posters, and other ways to share information at school, home, and on the website.
VP Fundraising

Plans and manages fundraising campaigns, including but not limited to fun runs, dining nights out, corporate matching programs, pass-the-hat donations, etc.
Provides monthly fundraising status updates for meetings and communications.
Researches and evaluates new fundraising opportunities and presents them to the executive committee and board of directors.
Oversees volunteer-driven social events that help foster community spirit, encourage lasting connections, and create enjoyable experiences for families.
Partners with event leads (such as Monster Mash, Fun Run, Walk and Roll, STEAM Fair, Spring Carnival, Kindergarten Welcome, etc.) to assist in planning and delivering successful events.
Note: The VP of Events provides support and guidance, but is not solely responsible for managing or running individual events.
Collaborates with the VP of Communications to make sure event details are effectively promoted to the school community.

Kindergarten Playdates

Welcome incoming families to Cottage Lake Elementary by organizing a summertime gathering and offering information about joining the CLE PTA.
Connects the PTA with local and state leaders, shares updates on important legislation, and encourages families to get involved in advocacy efforts.
Plan and implement a membership drive and actively recruit parents, grandparents, and community members to support our school.
Select nominees for the incoming PTA Executive Committee.
Popcorn Friday

Bring extra joy to the playground once a month with Popcorn Friday! This position organizes volunteers to pop and pass out the popcorn during recess.
Reader Board

Responsible for communicating messages on the CLE reader board.
Each spring SBA testing takes place and the students look forward to the endless supply of gum and snacks. This needs a person to organize the purchasing and distribution of these snacks.
Social Media

Works closely with VP Communications to maintain social media sites like Facebook and Instagram.
Special Education

Promote resources, training, and opportunities that help every child reach their potential. The Special Education Committee supports families and students by promoting inclusion, sharing resources, and advocating for the needs of students receiving special education services
Students and parents enjoy showing off their Sailor pride with spirit wear. Oversee the resourcing, ordering, and distribution of CLE shirts/hoodies, etc.

Watch Dogs

This position organizes the Watch D.O.G.S. program, which recruits fathers and father-figures to volunteer at the school to enhance school security, reduce bullying, and provide a greater sense of campus safety.
