Albertson's Community Partners Program to End  (A Message from Karen Orsinger, Partnerships Coordinator, Northshore School District):

Dear School Office Managers & PTA Presidents,

In the fall of 2002, Albertson’s Community Partners program was implemented in all our schools in partnership with Albertsons, the school district and our local unit PTAs.  Since the program began, our schools have received approximately $340,000 in earnings.  Unfortunately, the Albertson’s Corporation has recently decided to discontinue the program.

I have included some of the text from their letter:

Over the past several years, we have offered the Community Partners program, among several other programs, as a way to help keep our communities vibrant.  After much thought and discussion, we have decided to discontinue the Community Partners program and refocus our efforts on a few key areas to help tackle some of the biggest issues facing our communities, namely hunger, health and nutrition.  We feel these areas best match our unique resources of products, expertise and skilled volunteers, and through our focused support, could be truly impacted in a positive way in every community that we serve.  You will still be able to raise Community Partners funds through January 31, 2010 and you will receive a final payout in mid-to-late February 2010.

Thank you for your participation in the Community Partners program.  It has been a true pleasure to support your organization through this program and we look forward to continuing to support you through our other community programs.  And if your organization fits one of these three focus areas – hunger, health or nutrition – we encourage you to apply for a community grant by visiting our In the Community page at www.albertsons.com.

When we receive our last quarter’s earning statement and our final payout, I will send out letters listing your school’s earnings.  It is disappointing to see this program come to an end.  It was an easy way for our schools to benefit from their parents shopping at Albertsons.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Karen Orsinger,

Partnerships Coordinator, Northshore School District, korsinger@nsd.org
